Jim Wilroy – Marin County Legal Document Assistant #21-018
Jim Wilroy has 35+ years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently 15 years with Charles Schwab & Co. in its the San Francisco Trust and Estate Services department. In his many years of experience, Jim frequently encountered client situations that were made far too difficult and costly by the lack of essential estate documents.
As of January 1, 2000, and as amended on January 1, 2016, the California Business & Professions Code authorizes non-lawyers to prepare legal documents consumers performing their own legal tasks. Such non-lawyers under this provision are called Legal Document Assistants, or LDAs.
Jim is a member of CALDA, the California Association of Legal Document Assistants, which was established in August 1986. CALDA promotes and encourages high standards of ethical and professional conduct. CALDA members are committed to increasing public access to the legal system. In addition, CALDA promotes the growth, development, and recognition of the legal document assistant profession as an integral partner in the delivery of legal services. Jim is a past member of the Board of Directors of CALDA, serving as the chair of the Legislative Liaison Committee.

Pacheco Valle Woods HOA – Jim and his family have lived in this 148-unit planned development in Novato since 1980. Jim currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of this Association.
Buckelew Programs is a nonprofit organization providing homes, jobs, health, and hope for persons with serious mental illnesses in Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties.
Motivated by personal experience with family members affected by mental illness, Jim volunteers his time and expertise to the fundraising effort at Buckelew with special emphasis on planned giving.
